Rose Paving Philanthropy Wrap Up

Published by Candace on February 1st, 2012

Supporting charitable programs and reaching out to the surrounding community is of tremendous importance to all of us at Rose Paving. As a result, we contribute to, sponsor, or participate in a wide-range of community endeavors each year. Through our extracurricular activities, we have brought happiness and spread good will to many lives.  As part of its corporate community relations program, Rose Paving Company, headquartered in Bridgeview, IL, has not only donated funds, but had an overwhelming number of employees participate in events for 11 charitable organizations in 2011.  Those charities included:

Cancer Support Center Walk of Hope 2011

  • Ronald McDonald House, which creates, finds and supports programs that directly improve the health and well being of children.
  • The Cancer Support Center, which provides free of charge resources that help people improve their quality of life during the cancer experience.
  • Toys For Tots, organized by the U. S. Marine Corps Reserve, collects new, unwrapped toys during October, November and December each year, and distributes those toys as Christmas gifts to needy children in the community in which the campaign is conducted.
  • One Warm Coat, which collects coats to give to those in need, free of charge, in a variety of communities.
  • City of Hope – (winter coat drive) is an independent biomedical research, treatment and education institution; a leader in the fight to conquer cancer, diabetes, HIV/AIDS and other life-threatening diseases.
  • Goldie’s Place, a support center for the homeless in the Chicagoland area.
  • Maria Matters Breast Cancer Charity, which provides support and care packages to cancer patients.

“It is a priority at Rose Paving that we encourage philanthropic involvement for all our employees.  We are grateful for the opportunity to provide financial assistance or give our time these important organizations, and we enthusiastically support the extraordinary efforts of each of these charities,” said Alan Rose, CEO.

CAI-IL Conference Recap

Published by Candace on February 8th, 2012

Last week, our Bridgeview-based team had the pleasure of exhibiting at CAI-IL’s 30th Annual Conference & Exposition, held at Arlington Park Racecourse in Arlington Heights, IL.  Since it was the 30thanniversary, the expo had a “Throwback to the Awesome 80’s” theme – and many exhibitors participated.  Our very own Tim Chimack, Julio Chinea, and Jim Benecke dressed as the Ghostbusters – complete with a theme song, custom marshmallows, and a marshmallow gun.  Needless to say, a lot of fun was had amidst conducting business.

Chimack and Chinea also gave an educational presentation on “Preventative Maintenance” on the first day of the conference.  They described many ways to preserve your asphalt and concrete surfaces to keep condo and townhome communities not only aesthetically pleasing, but safe for all residents.

CAI’s Conference & Exposition is the industry’s premier event for networking and prospecting.  There is no better place to network with community association managers and board member decision makers.  Rose Paving is proud to be a member of CAI-IL for many years.  We would also like to congratulate our Regional Account Executive, Julio Chinea, for recently being elected to the CAI-IL board of directors!

How does your region affect the design and construction of your parking lot?  When is the right time to perform maintenance on your pavement investment?  If you’re unsure, then you need to attend our educational session at the 2012 National Facilities Management & Technology Conference (NFMT) in Baltimore, MD.  The event kicks off on Tuesday, March 13, and runs through Thursday, March 15.  During this time, thousands of facility executives from all over the country will converge to learn best practices, network, and view the largest display of facility products and services under one roof.  We hope you are among the many who have already registered!  If not, there is still time…and make sure to sign up for our session on Wednesday, March 14, at 9am.

An In-Depth Analysis of Parking Lot Maintenance
presented by Mike Condon, Senior National Account Executive
This interactive session will educate on the fundamentals of asphalt and how to maintain a safe and healthy pavement, even on a tight budget.  Diagrams and other illustrations will help the audience to better visualize topics such as asphalt construction, how to evaluate and understand pavement failures, and tips for long-term budgeting.

View the full session description and learning objectives by clicking on the NFMT site.

Hope to see you there!

Pothole Patrol

Published by Karen on February 22nd, 2012

At this time of year, potholes begin popping up in parking lots across the country. Why? The culprit is water. Water that has seeped through cracks and remained trapped beneath the surface of your parking lot has expanded and contracted all winter long with varying weather conditions. This process results in crack widening and, in some cases, the formation of potholes.

We spotted these liabilities in our neighborhood. If your parking lot looks anything like this, it’s time to call the experts at (888) 773-ROSE!!
