In our continued efforts to give back to others, the Philanthropy Committee at Rose Paving Company is holding a Shoe Drive to benefit Share Your Soles, a non-profit organization located in Chicago, Illinois.  Rose Paving employees are invited to donate new or gently worn shoes capable of withstanding heavy wear.  So far, a total of 256 pairs of shoes have been donated as a result of the fundraising drive which kicked off on June 18, 2012.

Although the need for children’s shoes is the greatest, Share Your Soles accepts shoes of any type and size, including sandals, flip flops, dress shoes, high heels, athletic shoes and cleats, snow boots, walking shoes, and slippers.

Upon arrival at the Share Your Soles warehouse, shoes are sorted and inspected for quality.  After being inspected, all shoes are bagged and sent out for washing at area laundromats.  Once the shoes have been washed, bleached, and sanitized, they are brought back to the warehouse to dry.  Shoes are then arranged by type and size prior to packaging.

Since the organization was founded in 1999, Share Your Soles has delivered over 1.5 million pairs of shoes to children and adults in the most impoverished areas of the world.  For more information on Share Your Soles or to make a donation, please visit http://shareyoursoles.org/.
